Artist's Description

10/23/89. Fire broke out at the original Sid's Hardware on Jay Street, Brooklyn, as construction workers were in the process of tearing down the neighborhood to make room for the new Metrotech Center. Huge clouds of smoke enveloped the area. Standing at the foot of a firetruck, with the ladder fully extended, I spotted this firefighter at the top of the ladder.
