Artist's Description
The Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine is one of New England's only paved, public shoreline footpaths. This vacationland jewel, which spans a little more than a mile along a spectacular coast, connects Perkins Cove to Ogunquit Beach. Vacationers in search of peace can feel the salty air and catch sweeping panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from one of many benches along the way. This heavily traveled strip of coastline draws recreation lovers from the world over. Residents and long-time visitors tell stories of walking their treasured Marginal Way when they were children. The land was donated to the Town of Ogunquit in1925 and a non-profit organization was established in 2010 to protect the Marginal Way for generations to come.
